CPUC NewsJuly 2008 JULY'S MEETING UNDERSCORED A NEED TO REVIEW AUBURN'S CONTROVERSIAL 36 inch SEPTIC ORDINANCE !! MOST Committee members endorsed this! A.2.2 Establish a Technical Review Committee to review the Lake Auburn Overlay District septic provisions based on current technology and make recommendations on possible changes/improvements to the requirements. In other News: At the CPUC meeting on June 3 there was a comment about families who could not afford a replacement septic system or the assessment to connect to sewer service. I mentioned there was City funding available, and thought I would let you know a little more of those details. 1. The City - CD Department can fund a replacement septic system, up to $20,000 for households where the income is below 80% of median income (see below), and $10,000 for households where the income is above 80% of median income. The repayments can be deferred (no payment until income increases to the next income level), or from 0-8% depending on the household income. 2. The City - CD Dept. can fund the sewer connection (from main to the house) at the same terms as #1. 3. The Sewer District provides funding for assessments in a variety of situations, but not in all cases They are currently at 7% interest. 4. The City - CD Dept. can fund the impact fee (the assessment to connect) when the Sewer District does not provide funding, for a family whose income is below 80% of median income, up to $1,500 (typically the fee when the Sewer District cannot fund it), and this is a grant (no repayment). Currently 80% of median income = Gail Phoenix
